​Senate Bill 1137 Emergency Rulemaking

On January 6, 2023, CalGEM's emergency regulations to support implementation of these requirements were approved by the Office of Administrative Law (OAL)​​​, filed with the Secretary of State, and made effective the same day. All operators are required to comply with the provisions established by Senate Bill 1137 and the SB 1137 First Emergency Implementation Regulations. Failure to do so may result in enforcement action.

On December 19, 2022, CalGEM announced it proposes to adopt emergency regulations to implement the requirements of Senate Bill 1137 that take effect in 2023, and requests public comment on the proposed emergency regulations.
