With a team of scientists and other dedicated professionals, the Department of Conservation (DOC) administers a variety of programs vital to California's public safety, environment and economy. The services DOC provides are designed to balance today's needs with tomorrow's obligations by fostering the wise use and conservation of energy, land and mineral resources.
Our Organization
Five divisions comprise the Department of Conservation:
Working with landowners, local governments, and
researchers to conserve the state’s natural resources and promote orderly
growth in coordination with agricultural endeavors.
Providing a measure of oversight for local
governments to address existing mining operations and the return of those mined
lands to a usable and safe condition.
Providing scientific products and services about the
state's geology, seismology, and minerals that affect the health, safety, and
business interests of Californians.
Regulating the state’s oil, gas, and geothermal
industries with a focus on public health, safety, environmental protection, and
supporting the state’s energy needs.
Representing
the State's interests in the reclamation of mined lands, geology,
geologic and seismologic hazards, and the conservation of mineral
resources.
