Publication Number Title / Description
Download California’s Geothermal Resources
Selected geothermal research publications from the California Geological Survey.
Download Coproduction of Geothermal Power from Oil and Gas Fields in California
Hot water produced from oil and gas wells can be used to generate geothermal power under certain temperature and flow conditions. This report provides links to technical reports about produced water and reservoir temperatures from oil and gas fields in California. Links to electric logs and to information on temperature gradients in sedimentary basins within the State are also provided.
Download New Data Reduction Tools and their Application to The Geysers Geothermal Field
Excel-based data-reduction and visualization tools. The tools are described in a paper presented at the 2005 World Geothermal Congress meeting in Turkey. Data from The Geysers Geothermal field are described.
M09 Principles of Stratigraphic Nomenclature
Description of Geologic Energy Management Division (formerly Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources) stratigraphic nomenclature practices, based on the rules and policies of the Geologic Names Committee of the United States Geological Survey (1982).
TR13 Pt 1

TR13 Pt 2

The Potential of Low-Temperature Geothermal Resources in Northern California
Uses for geothermal heat at temperatures too low for conventional electrical power generation (1975).
TR14 Geothermal Professional Papers
"Comments on Well Corrosion and Scaling in the Salton Sea Geothermal Field” and “The Collection of Geothermal Fluid Samples for Chemical Analysis” (1975).
TR15 Pt 1

TR15 Pt 2

Chemistry of Thermal Water in Selected Geothermal Areas of California
Chemical analyses of thermal water collected throughout California, along with collection and analysis procedures (1975).
TR27 Pt 1

TR27 Pt 2

A Reservoir Assessment of The Geysers Geothermal Field
Production history, subsurface geology, geophysics, reservoir assessment, and drilling technology are discussed for The Geysers Geothermal field. Includes 27 figures, nine tables, nine plates, four photos 1981).
TR37

Heat-Flow Mapping at The Geysers Geothermal Field
A temperature-gradient map and a heat-flow map were drawn of The Geysers Geothermal field. Includes data from 187 temperature-gradient holes (1986).
TR49 A Geysers Album, Five Eras of Geothermal History
Five eras of geothermal history at The Geysers Geothermal field are described. The first was the wilderness era; the second, use by Native Americans; the third, the age of tourism; the fourth, a 1920s electrical generation project; and the fifth, modern electrical generation (2010). Significant Problems in Geothermal Development in California
This report identifies and recommends state actions that will expedite in selected areas the development of geothermal resources in California. The report is based on the findings of the Geothermal Resources Task Force, created by the Legislature in 1976. The work of the Task Force was completed in December 1977.
TR02 Geothermal Hot Line
