Cameron Campbell of Bakersfield, California, was appointed as Supervisor of DOC's Division of Mine Reclamation in June 2021. Prior to this appointment, Campbell spent the better part of four years working in various capacities with the California Division of Geologic Energy Management (CalGEM) Inland District office, where he served as Senior Oil and Gas Engineer from June 2020 to June 2021, as a Specialist in the Oversight and Technology Unit. Prior to this role, from 2018-2020, Campbell served as Inland District Deputy, overseeing oil and gas activities within Kern, Tulare, Kings, and Fresno counties.
Before being appointed as District Deputy in June 2018, Campbell served as Senior Oil and Gas Engineer (Supervisor) within both the Inland District Field Engineering and Operations teams. Preceding his appointment with CalGEM in the Fall of 2016, Campbell spent nine years in the private industry as an exploration and development geologist in Bakersfield and Houston, Texas.
Apart from being a geologist, Campbell recently retired as a Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) Officer from the U. S. Navy Reserves in 2015, after 20 years of both Active Duty and Reserve service. He holds both a Bachelor and Master's degree in Geology from San Diego State University. Campbell is also a licensed Professional Geologist in the state of California.
