Ben Turner is the Assistant Director for Governmental and Environmental Relations at the Department of Conservation. He was appointed in December 2014 by Governor Brown to represent the department in interactions with governmental agencies and other stakeholders. Before joining the department, Ben served for seven years as a Legislative Director and Policy Consultant in the California State Assembly and State Senate, where much of his work focused on legislation pertaining to oil and gas, energy, and environmental issues.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
