Tom Gibbs, Deputy Director 

Tom Gibbs has served as the DOC Deputy Director since 2004.   Mr. Gibbs has primary responsibility for the administrative activities of the DOC, including the budget, personnel, contracting, and information technology.   In this capacity, Mr. Gibbs provides policy guidance to the Director and Executive Staff on a variety of subjects and is the Director's representative for the annual budget hearings.  Mr. Gibbs is also responsible for the operations of the DOC's 14 field offices and headquarters facility.

Mr. Gibbs has been with the Department for approximately 18 years, serving in a number of positions. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Director, Mr. Gibbs served four years as the Department's Budget Officer and three years as a legislative analyst in the DOC Office of Governmental and Environmental Relations.   Mr. Gibbs started his career in the DOC Division of Recycling, as a Staff Services Management Auditor.  

Gibbs holds degrees in Business   Administration (Finance) and Economics.   His hobbies include hunting, fishing and exploring California's coast line.   Gibbs, his wife Viki and two stepdaughters live in Roseville.
