DATA FORMATS
Well data is available in excel and shapefile formats. Excel can be saved to your computer and brought into most microsoft database software applications. Shapefiles are specific to ESRI's ArcGIS software; however, many non GIS programs have the ability to import shapefiles.
NOTE: For information not found in these tables, please contact the district office directly. If you would like to receive notification of future updates, please email jennie.catalano@conservation.ca.gov with "ADD ME" in the subject line. Updates will be sent to the email address being used in the request only.

These codes indicate the means by which the well location data was collected.
HUD - Heads up digitized (from scanned, georeferenced mylar map)
GPS - Collected via Global Positioning System
MIP - Location generated using a custom tool in MapInfo GIS software Plot of section corner calls
OPR - Data provided by operator
Data Fields: The fields contained in each file includes API number, operator, lease name, well number, section, township, range, latitude and longitude, source of coordinates, and symbol used to define the status of a well
Note: Source and Symbol definitions contained within the database files are listed near the bottom of this page and are subject to change at any time.

For downloading shapefiles, click the SHAPEFILE hyperlink and save the zip contents to your computer.
Note: The tables below contains lat and long coordinates in the GCS NAD83, non projected coordinate system.
