Improved electronic data management and transparency are high-level objectives in the Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR)
Renewal Plan. The greater availability of online data applications for not only industry operators but the public is one way DOGGR is meeting those goals.
For example, DOGGR is refining the Well Statewide Tracking and Reporting (WellSTAR) system, a customized online database of well recordkeeping that provides operational standardization and regulatory compliance clarification. In turn, that allows DOGGR to better enforce oil and gas production requirements. Soon, a public interface will be added to the WellSTAR application, allowing for wider accessibility to most records.
WellSTAR is one program that will serve the need for online data. Requests for information from the public, industry, government, and non-government organizations are increasing.
