SMARA Workshop Information
The Division of Mine Reclamation (DMR) offers workshops throughout the state. We provide training in the following topics below:
Lead Agency Workshop
Description: SMARA training workshops are designed to help lead agencies understand their roles and responsibilities under SMARA. This workshop provides an overview of SMARA with tips and techniques for SMARA program success, financial assurance (both estimates and mechanism), enforcement process case study, fiscal issues, as well as interactive Q&A with networking.
Target Audience: Lead agencies and their consultants
Annual Inspection Workshop
Description: This workshop will focus on conducting the SMARA annual inspections, including observing and measuring site conditions, updating financial assurances, completing the inspection form, and corrective actions/enforcement. This workshop consists of a two day course, one day of classroom training and one day out in the field.
Target Audience: Designed to train lead agency staff and consultants who conduct annual inspections of surface mining operations.
Lead Agency Review and Assistance Workshop
Description: The revised Lead Agency Review and Assistance (LARA) program will cover a variety of topics related to the new LARA program and we welcome your participation and input on the revised program. Some of the topics will include:
- When, why and how lead agencies are selected for review
- Performance review and expectations
- Review procedures and coordination
- Mine inspection process review
- Development of report findings
Consultations on initial report and preparation of final reports
Lead agencies and their consultants.
